Alloy nipples are meant to reduce rotational weight and are best suited for lighter riders using TT, Triathlon or Road bikes. Not recommended for use on Cyclocross, MTB or Track/Fixed Gear bikes. The lateral stress on those wheels can be much greater. Use of steel or brass nipples is recommended for larger riders and those with a more abusive riding style.
